I was planning on sharing quite a few things before, but I killed my laptop (in the most miserable fashion), and lost all the fabulous links and images. But, all is not lost, I supposed! I now have a new laptop and thank God for the world wide web, because I can quite easily retrieve some of the documents and links I kept in my previous laptop, from my email. So whilst I try to configure the new laptop and start on a new collection of beautiful things, here's a project which I'm almost certain everybody will appreciate: Little People - a tiny street art project!
I first chanced upon this project last year and it was truly love at first sight! "My Little People" project started in 2006 by artist Slinkachu from the United Kingdom. It involves remodelling and painting of miniature model train set characters, which are then placed and left on the streets and photographed. The title of his projects reflects the loneliness and melancholy of living in a big city, almost being lost and overwhelmed, in line with the aim of the project, to encourage city-dwellers to be more aware of their surroundings. I love that he uses everyday objects, like a puddle of water on the floor, and transform them into a creative piece of art, and into a scene in which everybody can empathise with. And I've always thought the use of proportions between foreground and background is so clever, which might explain why I find his photographs so beautiful.. Angles and all that mathematics jazz, just the way my brain works. Reminds me of the time in Paris, where my friend and I attempted to take typical touristy photos of us pretending to pick the Eiffel Tower up by the tip.

I think what we can all take away from this little project is, to always stop and smell the roses; to appreciate the many things around us, things we often overlook as we go about our hectic schedules. So keep an eye out on the streets today, because you never know what you might find, like a Wunder Wurst stand by the corner!
