I'm Sexy And I Know It

Being only 5ft and owning a rather heavy top and bottom, I don't exactly fall into the "slim, tall and slender" category. I was never dissatisfied with my body, but growing up in Singapore, amongst girls who are constantly complaining about their weight (most of them are at least a head taller than me and half my size), it didn't exactly help me to be confident of it either. But it was about this time, I started to learn how to appreciate beautiful things. Beautiful creatures like pin-up girls. To me, a pin-up girl always exudes self-confidence and sensuality, turning heads as she walks through the room. She doesn't strive to be stick skinny but embraces her figure, accentuating her voluptuous curves. And I guess this is the reason why I've always loved and secretly want to be a pin-up girl. And so with LMFAO's song "Sexy and I Know It" (thanks to my boyfriend who is constantly reminding me that this song was made for him, I have it stuck in my head but there couldn't have been a more perfect song for this, I reckon), here's a post about pin-up girls.

According to Wikipedia, a pin-up girl is a model whose mass-produced pictures see wide appeal as popular culture. These models include glamour models, fashion models, or actresses. Out of the list of famous pin-up girls that was provided by Wiki, there were a few that stuck out to me, starting from the 30's:

1. Gypsy Rose Lee
I've watched the film Gypsy a couple of times on the television now, and every time I watch it, I fall in love with the movie again and feel slightly more inspired to be a Burlesque dancer.

Who can ever get over one of Hollywood's sex symbols of the 40's and 50's?

What's a pin-up girl count without Marilyn Monroe? Up till this day, she's still such an iconic figure in Hollywood. In my opinion, she's always ahead of her times, just as how she quite possibly let the world know that it's okay to be curvaceous.

She is the original and sexiest Bond girl of all times.

The iconic 70's hair and winning smile from the original Charlie's Angel.. I think the original, which has been playing on a regular time slot on the television, is growing on me. Then again, I do love the 70's and the furnitures.

I used to watch her reality show and despite her bad press, she always seemed to have this softer, less crazy side, which I felt somewhat sympathetic towards.

I think when you ask somebody to name pin-up girls of the 20th Century, Dita Von Teese would be on the top of the list. She is an absolute stunner and is always so glamorous and elegant. Plus, I am obsessed with her vintage car collection!

Finally, after these pictures of all these beautiful women, I end off with a self shot of the pin-up girl in me.

Embrace your curves,
xx Chezz
