Midweek Music - Night Swim

I keep telling myself week after week to do a post on this song, but somehow things always get in the way and I forget, and I apologise. So it;s not really midweek anymore, but good music should always be shared!

I'm absolutely loving Nightswim by Owl Eyes at the moment, for her calm, melancholic melody, which accompanies me on the drives home from work. It kind of reminds me to keep calm and unwind after a day in the office, or a weekend like last, when our fence got kicked in on the Friday night, and then gratified on the Saturday night and then A fell sick from a rotten egg on Sunday and then little D caught conjunctivitis and the flu from day care on Monday (yes all in one weekend, mammoth).

Nightswim, the single in particular reminds me so much of the movie Drive, starring Ryan Gossling. I remember going to one of the local cinemas, Luna, in Leederville, to watch the movie when it came out and then leaving the theatre in awe. The way the movie was set out, and the humour attached to violence is probably what I like most about the movie. Coincidentally, heard on Triple J, this song was indeed inspired by the movie. She's definitely got the mood of the song right! Anyhow, I hope this melody will keep you sane this weekend, just as it does mine!
