Book Buddies

So, for those of you following my life (I'd like to think there are hordes of Jade-adorers, who think me to be quite important...), my latest thing now is reading. Ok, that might be a little inaccurate, I've been reading since I was a wee lass but along the way I got distracted with... well, not to be vague, but life.

Back in the day, books frequently came to me in the form of presents or rewards. I loved it for the usual reasons I guess, the worlds I went to, feeding my imagination. I went to some pretty fun places back then.

Which is probably why I've gone back to them. Huh. Sudden realisation.

Now that we've got that out of the way.

When I travel back and forth from work, or anywhere really, I'm alone and caught in a train smashed with a bazillion people. This leads to a lot of awkward face-time with strangers. Books are great for avoiding unnecessary eye contact. There's a life tip for you lot.

Here's what I'm reading now:

In all honesty, I just got introduced to http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/ and classics were SGD$4 a piece so I went a bit nutters.
Anyway, Oscar Wilde's (not to be confused with Orson Welles as I got yelled at for) only novel has my mind completely boggled. Some of the character's speak of horrid philosophies but they are quite profound. I have had to re-read paragraphs numerous times, it feels a bit like I haven't been using a particular part of my brain and now it is struggling to restart. But it's great. I like having my mind worked a bit and my world really needs expand beyond the one I'm living in right now.

You won't find any spoilers here - because I have not gotten to the end yet. But I really think you should get onto Book Depository and buy some damn books! Most of the day life is about work and problems and friends, but spending a couple of hours in another time or place is good for your soul. Plus, there's free shipping. AM I NOT THE QUEEN OF ONLINE SHOPPING!?

You will always be fond of me,

Jazz
