26 days (plus/minus) countdown to the big day! Bear with me as my maternal instincts kick in on high gear as we approach home run! Everybody's been asking about how I'm feeling at the moment. What I'm experiencing is a whirlwind of emotions. I'm relieved and glad to finally be able to get some rest. At the same time, I'm a bit anxious about being home so much. I've been racking my brains, trying to come up with things to keep myself entertained whilst waiting for bub's arrival. I enjoy working and the satisfaction derived from completing a job, so sitting at home doing nothing is a slow kill. Other than that, I'm impatient and excited for our little boy's arrival, yet simultaneously hoping that he'll hold out a little longer so we get to spruce up the house and his room a little more before he comes home. Like I said, whirlwind of mixed pregnancy hormones and emotions.
Anyway, to keep myself entertained this weekend, whilst A worked on plastering the walls for the alfresco area, I decided to tick off the first activity on my list of things to do on maternity leave - finish compiling the nursery's mood board. Every good designer will probably tell you that the first step to any design is putting together a mood board, to pin out all your ideas and inspirations and watch them flow. I've had a vision in mind of how I want the room to look for ages now. For me, it needed to be a calming space for the baby without looking bland or boring. Since we were not going to paint the nursery walls (which were a beige base, providing a neutral canvas), I decided we need a pop of colour, specifically Magnetic Magic, to be painted on the chest of drawers and the cot. A and I also subconsciously chosen an animal theme for the nursery given our love for nature. Everything is still a work in progress at the moment, but I cannot wait to see how our ideas transform into real life!
So here's my mood board:
ph (clockwise from top left): Owl candle holder - UO; Crib - Ikea; Noah's Ark wall decal - Zanzino; Chevron print cushion - UO; Alphabet print - unknown; Chest of 3 drawers - Ikea; Felt giraffe mobile - Etsy; Baby announcement display - Urban Tickle; Felt lion mobile - Etsy; Elephant coin bank - Kate Spade; Rocking chair - unknown; Magnetic magic - Dulux paint sample; Red velvet cushion - UO; Ikat print cushion - UO
Yours truly, mummy-to-be,
Chezz
