Now Baking

It's been a long while since Jazz or I updated this blog, so I thought I might just drop by quickly. So much has happened in the last couple of months and it all feels so surreal. I've since moved out of my little girl's apartment into A's house, about to put a ring on my finger and have a little Aazza (Australians have a funny habit of replacing the second syllabus of every name with "zza") or Chezza (to which, we'll find out in slightly under four weeks) running round the block! As much as things are happening at an overwhelmingly fast rate, I find comfort in the thought that everything happens for a reason.

In addition to all that's been happening, I've become Mum to A's ten month old Blue Heeler, Blu (A's got the most creative names for his pets, guess the name of our red Fighting Fish..), who follows me around the house trying to protect Mum and Bub from any harm. Blu would also run to me when he first enters the house, instead of to A. So I decided to do some reading up on this amazing animal behaviour.

The two main reasons for the change in behaviour (for better or for worse) are that they are first to notice any changes in behaviour, posture, routine and emotions, no matter how minute these changes may be. Dogs are so in tune with such differences that they'll pick up on them instantly.

The second reason for the change in behaviour is of course due to their keen sense of smell. The changes in hormones and pheromones in a pregnant woman can be picked up by a dog, given their ability to smell is one million times better than humans.

When they say dog's a man's best friend, there definitely is no doubt about it. Blu is always checking up on me to make sure I'm within his sight. As annoying as he gets when he's up to his mischief, there is no way you can stay mad at a face like this..

Till the next time,
Chezz
